European Voluntary Service in Perpignan Service Volontaire Européen à Perpignan   Summary   Présentation   Testimony   Témoignage                       European voluntary service in Perpignan The IDEA of my EVS comes from a wish to discover another country and other traditions. Even if the cultural difference is not so obvious, South of France and in particular Perpignan and its surroundings are quite different than Belgium. My experiment began very well because the following day after arriving in a hosting family; the team at the origin of the EVS project invited me in a Catalan restaurant. Indeed, Perpignan belongs to Northern Catalonia and asserts it high and strong. As of Monday, I was plunged in the bath. After a presentation of the team and buildings, work began. My activity was the transmission of the Catalan maritime inheritance to the young generations. In practice, I had to create workshops and animations bound for the young people from 6 to 17 years and then to manage these workshops during the holiday periods. The offices of the maritime Inheritance are in Perpignan and workshops proceed at the Royal Castle of Collioure where several exposures are devoted to the inheritance. The EVS happened in Perpignan and after a period to adapt myself, I managed some workshops at the Royal Castle. My voluntary activity proceeded in an excellent way and the project is very impassioning. Being the first EVS hosted in the association, all l' team take really care of myself! And I thank them a lot. As an personal experience and a human adventure, I think that one cannot do better. Même si la différence culturelle n'est pas flagrante, a priori; le sud de la France et en particulier Perpignan et ses environs nous montrent un visage bien différent de la Belgique. Mon expérience a très bien débuté puisque le lendemain de mon arrivée en famille d'accueil, l'équipe à l'origine du projet SVE m'attendait dans un restaurant catalan. En effet, Perpignan fait partie de la Catalogne Nord et le revendique haut et fort. Dès le lundi, j'ai été plongée dans le bain. Après une présentation de l'équipe et des locaux, le travail a débuté. L'activité qui m'a été confiée est la transmission du patrimoine maritime catalan aux jeunes générations. En pratique, il s'agissait de créer des ateliers et des animations à destination des jeunes de 6 à 17 ans et ensuite animer ces ateliers durant les périodes de vacances. Les bureaux du Patrimoine maritime sont installés à Perpignan et les animations/ateliers se déroulent au Château Royal de Collioure où plusieurs expositions sont consacrées au patrimoine. Le SVE s’est déroulé à Perpignan après un certain temps d'adaptation, j'ai animé quelques ateliers au Château Royal. Mon activité bénévole s’est déroulée à merveille et le projet est très motivant. Étant la première SVE accueillie dans la structure, toute l'équipe est aux petits oignons ! Et je les en remercie. Comme expérience professionnelle et comme aventure humaine, je pense qu'on ne peut pas faire mieux.
