since 1998 Contact-2103
"Contact-2103" is an International Non-Governmental Youth Organization (AISBL) recognized by the European Comission. Contact-2103 was created by organizations active in the field of youth to achieve a common and co-ordinated policy at the european level.
Considering the emergence and influence of the European dimension within the social and cultural development of the youth,
Considering the growing need to adapt existing associative partnerships to that evolution and to open them to different youth organization methods aiming at developing the concept of active youth participation, the European Co-ordination of MJC's, Youth Clubs and Youth Associations " CONTACT-2103 " is in keeping with a broader European youth democracy and solidarity policy based on the involvement of all youths. Referring to the final Declaration of the European Council in BUCHAREST in April 98, it wishes to contribute to the democratic, social and cultural cohesion of the European continent as well as reinforcing solidarity between peoples. It puts these missions on the same level as the struggle against racism and intolerance, and promotes education towards citizenship and democracy through concrete actions in the scope of non-formal education.
As part of its goals, the basic principles of " CONTACT-2103 " are open to all, without any discrimination on ideology, political belonging, sex, race or nationality, developing brotherly relations amongst participants. The Co-ordination respects the variety of ideas within the boundaries of the Human Rights Declaration.

The choice of name is significant: it connects the organization with a symbolic moment of tolerance and openness.
In order to try and avoid a number of language barriers, the organization chose what it hopes is a universal name - a meaningful word and a number. "Contact 2103" is very simply the name derived from an internet based project of dialogue and debate on the theme of racism conducted between young people from across the whole of Europe which took place on the 21st March (2103)1998: "Contact 2103 against racism".
Young people used the internet to exchange opinions and read testimonies on the theme of racism. The web site later became the Internet site for "Contact 2103".
"Contact 2103" is committed to the principles of being open to all, without discrimination, associations and individuals, regardless of their ideology, political affiliation, gender, race, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, culture, religion, education, capacity, age or class provided that organizations and individuals respect and value each others differences, are committed to positive development, to equality and that they do not seek to oppress or marginalize an any member or part of the community.
